Now that your daughter is finished with high school (and all those extra-curricular activities) you may find yourself with less to do!
To help fill that void, and allow you to support and stay connected with your daughter and the organization she has joined, you can become a member of the Alpha Phi Parents Club. Your involvement and support will help you remain close to your daughter while giving you a chance to make contributions which help the chapter as a whole.
Some activities in which our parents have participated:
- Formal Recruitment Support (building stages, helping in the kitchen, etc.)
- Rockin’ Red Dress Poker Tournament
- Mom & Dad's Weekend Gift Basket Auction
- Homecoming Activities
- Greek Week Activities
- Holiday House Decorating
- Senior Send Off
A Note from the Parents Club
Welcome! Your daughters have embarked on a wonderful enhancement to their life in college and beyond.
We fully recognize the lasting benefits of your daughter’s membership in Alpha Phi, as we are Omicron members as well! We pledged Alpha Phi-Omicron in the fall of 1980 and were so excited and proud when our daughters made the decision to follow in our footsteps. Throughout the years we have both recognized the strength of character, leadership and lasting friendships Alpha Phi has given us. Times have changed, but the legacy of Alpha Phi continues to provide a "tie which unites a circle of friends" for women young and old all around the world. From hand to hand and heart to heart, we are all grateful and proud of the legacy left to us by our founders.
Most of the benefits, activities and friendships Alpha Phi offers are enjoyed by the members themselves. But parents benefit too! You can become a bigger part of your daughter’s sorority experience by joining the Parents Club. It is never too late to become a member of the Parents Club.
The Parents Club is a supporting organization for the Chapter, particularly in the areas of increased communication and modest financial support. We work with the girls to host several events a year at which parents can spend time in the chapter house, meet other parents, and enjoy activities with their daughters and their new ‘sisters.’ By use of Parents Club dues, we also can provide monetary support for discrete chapter endeavors. For example, over the last two years, the Parents Club has contributed funds for creation and enhancement of Omicron’s website. The website is a great way for you to learn more about the history of Alpha Phi, check the Chapter calendar for upcoming activities and view photos from recent Chapter or Greek events on campus.
Celebrate your daughter’s membership in Alpha Phi, and if you have not already done so, consider becoming a member of the Parents Club. Annual dues are $30 per family. You may choose to offer your support simply with yearly dues, or you may want to take a more active role and work with chapter officers and advisors to plan activities.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We have provided our contact information below. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you at Moms Weekend, Dads Weekend (Fall 2009,) and other Greek events.
Sincerely,
Robin Richart Beck (Megan '08) Cathy McCrady Heinsohn (Christen '08)
