What to Expect

Expect to get hot!  Columbia in August is hot and humid—and spending all day in the sun in your cutest clothes, when you're stressed, is brutal!

Expect to be stressed.  Your sorority hostesses will be stressed too!  Try to laugh things off and have a good time.

Expect to be nervous.  Again, we'll be nervous too -- and that's OK (and normal!). Relax and smile and you'll be fine.

Expect to meet tons of new people.
You will be introduced to more people than you will be able to remember.  You might consider bringing along a small notepad for jotting notes between parties.  Your Recruitment Councilor will be able to hold it for you during parties.

Expect to be asked questions. You'll be asked about yourself, your activities and why you are going through recruitment.  Remember, recruitment is a mutual selection process.  It's OK if you ask questions of your sorority hostesses.  In fact, we encourage you to learn all you can about each chapter so you can make a decision that is right for you.

Expect to learn about Greek life. You'll learn about everything from Homecoming activities to chapter philanthropies! Don't worry if you don't remember everything- you'll have plenty of time to learn about the Greek community throughout your college experience!

Expect to have fun!  Recruitment week is a whirlwind of parties and new faces and new friends.  It will be over before you know it, so enjoy every minute!
